Old Haberdashers Gala Dinner 2023

Cherished memories, shared journeys, and all things Habs made for an unforgettable evening at Haberdashers’ Hall with Haberdashers' Boys' School alumni (from 1961 to 2022), former and current staff at the heart of it all! ✨ #HabsFamily

🏆A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the inaugural Old Haberdasher Unsung Hero Award. The award recognises individuals who exemplify the Habs values of service and community through selfless devotion to the welfare of others. We received some outstanding nominations from alumni around the world.

👏Congratulations to the 3 finalists:
 

Hamish Adam (OH 1973) for his ground-breaking work to establish Alcoholics Anonymous in Dubai. When Hamish and his wife moved to Dubai in 1994, AA did not have a presence. Hamish led a volunteer effort to change that. Today there are more than 40 recovery groups in Dubai, open to people of all nationalities and faiths with a desire to stop drinking.

Alan Mackenzie (OH 1974) for a lifetime of service and sacrifice, most recently to help elderly and disabled neighbours throughout the covid pandemic.

Simon Gresswell (OH 1984) for his boundless energy in performing community service ranging from reviving the Old Haberdashers Rugby Football Club to his work to fight prostate cancer. The latter has included sponsored English Channel swims and other fundraising efforts that have so far raised more than £1 million.

And the winner is… Alan MacKenzie. Very many congratulations, Alan!
